The home for your club, association and community

Events, check-in, chat, announcements and appeals for funds — all in one place, for groups in Ghana and the United States.

Clubs, associations, churches, professional bodies, old students' associations and community groups all run on the same handful of things: telling people what is happening, knowing who is coming, and keeping track of money. BlackGiant Hub does those, instead of four WhatsApp groups and a notebook.

What it does

Events people turn up to

Create a meeting once, repeat it weekly or monthly, and let members say whether they are coming. Reminders arrive the day before and an hour before. Capacity and a waiting list are there when a venue only holds so many.

A QR code at the door

Each member gets their own code for an event, and somebody on the door scans it to check them in. It works with no signal — the phone holds the list and sorts itself out once it is back online — and the record of who came stays with the group afterwards.

Paid events, with the money going straight to you

Write how you want to be paid — Mobile Money, a bank transfer, cash at the door — and members tell the app once they have sent it, with a reference. An organiser then confirms it against the group's own account. Nothing a member taps creates a ticket on its own. BlackGiant Hub never holds or handles the money; it goes directly to the group, and the app only keeps track of what has arrived.

Appeals for funds

When a member is bereaved, ill, or facing an emergency, the group can raise money for them. Whoever it is about has to agree before anything is published. An appeal can stay inside the group, or the group can turn on a link that anybody can open — so people who do not have the app can still say that they have given, and be thanked. The money goes to the group, never through us.

Chat by topic, announcements that stay put

Separate channels for separate conversations, so the committee's planning does not bury the fixture list. A channel can be for everybody, for the committee only, or for a handful of people working on one thing. Announcements go to everybody and stay at the top where they can be found, and you can ask people to confirm they have read something important and see who has not yet.

Signing in with WhatsApp

No password and nothing to remember. You type your number, tap a button, and WhatsApp opens with a code already written — you just press send. Your phone number is how the app knows you.

One group, two countries

A group with members in Accra and in the United States is still one group. Chapters keep local activity local, while notices and the member directory stay group-wide. An in-person event keeps the time at the place it happens, so a 5:30am run in Accra is 5:30am Accra time for everybody — and anybody abroad is told what that is where they are.

Built for a Ghanaian data bundle

Pages load in one request rather than ten, photos load only when you tap them, and a data saver setting stops media loading at all. Most screens work from what the phone already holds when the signal drops.

Coming soon

These are being built and are not available yet. Everything described above is.

Ticketing for organisations

For a conference, a fundraiser or a training day where most of the people coming are not members and will never install an app: a booking link anybody can open, several ticket types at different prices, a registration form you write yourself, receipts, and certificates of attendance afterwards.

Paying inside the app

Mobile Money and cards, so a member can pay in the app rather than sending money and telling you about it separately. Until then, paid events work as described above, with an organiser confirming each payment.

Notices by text message

So an important announcement reaches members whose data is off. The option is already in the app and says plainly that nothing is sent yet.

Getting it

BlackGiant Hub is in testing and is not in the app stores yet. If somebody has sent you an invite link or a code, hold on to it — it will still work when the app is available.

Starting a group

Any group can use BlackGiant Hub. Each one has its own space, its own branding and its own members, and no group can see anything belonging to another.

Getting in touch

For anything about the app, a group, or an invite that will not work, email hello@blackgianthub.com. For anything to do with your own personal data — a copy of it, a correction, or deleting it — write to privacy@blackgianthub.com instead, which is the address the privacy policy names.
