Delete your account
You can delete your BlackGiant Hub account yourself, at any time, without asking anybody. This page explains how, and exactly what happens.
In the app
This is the quickest way and it takes effect immediately.
- Open BlackGiant Hub and sign in.
- Go to Account.
- Scroll to Delete my account.
- Read what will be removed, then confirm.
Your account is gone as soon as you confirm. You are signed out, and signing in again with the same phone number creates a brand new account rather than recovering the old one.
If you cannot open the app
If you have uninstalled BlackGiant Hub, lost the phone number you signed up with, or cannot sign in for any other reason, email [email protected] from any address and ask us to delete your account. Tell us the phone number you used, so we can find it.
We will delete it within 30 days, and reply to say it is done. We may ask you to confirm the request from the phone number itself — not to make it difficult, but because an email alone is not proof that the account is yours, and deleting the wrong person's club membership is not something we could put right.
What is deleted
- Your profile: your name, photo, bio, profession, industry and interests
- Your phone number and email address, and your choices about who could see them
- Your membership of every club, and your role in each
- Your replies to events, your place on any waiting list, and your tickets
- Your name from the record of any event you were checked in at
- Your reactions, your read marks and your list of blocked members
- Your registered devices and your notification settings
- Any pending application to join a club
What is kept, and why
Messages and announcements you posted stay in the club they were posted in, shown without your name. A club conversation is not one person's to erase: if every message vanished when somebody left, the thread other members were reading would stop making sense.
The same is true of a club's own records. That an event happened, and that a certain number of people were checked in at the door, stays as the club's history — with you no longer named in it. So a run twelve people came to is still recorded as a run twelve people came to after one of them deletes their account: the count is the club's, the name was yours.
Nothing kept identifies you. If you would rather a particular message were removed outright as well, say so in your email and we will do it.
If you are the only owner of a club
Two different things happen, depending on whether anybody else is in it.
If other people are members, you will be asked to make somebody else an owner first. Deleting your account would otherwise leave their club with nobody in charge of it, and that is not one person's decision to make. The app shows you which clubs and takes you straight to the screen for handing each one over.
If you are the only member, the club is deleted along with your account. There is nobody to inherit it and nothing of anybody else's inside it.
Children
BlackGiant Hub is for adults only. If somebody tells us at sign-up that they are under 18 we refuse the account and delete it automatically, and we never store the date of birth they entered.
